Back when I first got into politics, Steven Crowder was one of the main reasons I became a conservative. I watched many of his change my minds, starting at the end of middle school and throughout my high school years. He was one of the only political pundits I watched consistently.
I’m currently 23, so it’s been some years since I’ve consumed his content. The first time I thought about watching him was when a video of his popped up, shortly after the murder of Charlie Kirk.
I was curious to see his opinion, and to see if he had a somewhat reasonable response to the trend of political violence, growing within America. I was surely disappointed to see a man I once respected, engaging in violent rhetoric that borders on a call to arms, trying to incite a violent attack on left wing advocates.
Steven Crowder makes a dangerous and disturbing claim that it is not the right who are violent, no, it is the intolerant left who is violent. In all sincerity he is claiming that there is no rise in right wing political violence.
He says, “But you won’t find it.” Let’s be clear about what he is saying. He believes there is no evidence of right wing violence. I guess he thinks it is impossible for his side to commit evil. It appears he wants you to think his people are the followers of Jesus Christ and God’s righteousness.
The fact of the matter is this. There is a rise of political violence in this country and the right are main contributors, due to the dangerous rhetoric of Trump and political pundits who parrot his narrative of reality. There is evidence, it is provable and exist with empirical data.
But don’t take my word for it, lets look at the statistics (cited by CARNEGIE):
Both graphs point toward an alarming trend. The evidence points toward one man, Donald J. Trump. If we take a look at the first graph, it shows that ever since Trumps first term there has been an upward trajectory when it comes to hate crimes, targeted at minority groups.
The second graph gives us a clear picture of which side is clearly engaging in political attacks and the evidence is overwhelming tilted toward the right. And it’s the rhetoric Trump engages in that has led to this point.
This is why we cannot allow Steven Crowder or anyone else on the right to repaint the truth and conform to their distorted version of reality. The truth is the truth and lying can only get them so far, before America wakes up to the wool wrapped around their eyes.
In their own words, “facts don’t care about your feelings.” They are so blinded by their own pearl clutching that they cannot see the hypocrisy of everything they have fought against.
They are no longer the party of free speech. Now that they have the political means to silence any and everyone who disagrees with them, what do they? They are choosing to be the monsters that the claim the left was.
Ironic, it it not?
while writing this post, there has been a funeral, which was held for who the right claims is a martyr, Charlie Kirk. I did not watch the broadcast, but I know some of the people who showed.
Trump was there, Vance, Elon Musk and I’m sure there were a lot more popular, right wing pundits and politicians rallying behind the death of Charlie Kirk, and all for the purpose of using his murder as a political rallying call to radicalize more of the youth.
If we should mourn the death of people dying of political violence, shouldn’t it be for people on both sides. I mean it’s not just Republicans who have been murdered, just a few months ago, Melissa Hortman was murdered by a registered republican.
I am showing her face, because it seems like the right as already forgotten her. Trump couldn’t even remember who she was when asked why he didn’t lower the flag to half staff.
His response was that he wasn’t ask. As if he should have to be told to do something that is just basic human decency. Was he asked to do it for Charlie Kirk or did some emotion pour over him, compelling him to engage in human empathy?
From my perspective, it seems like the right does not actually care about people dying unless it serves their political interest, furthering their grip onto power. If you look at their track record, all you have to do his follow the money and see why the right votes in a certain way that benefits their lobbyist.
But that’s a topic for another day.
